Grant Overview
Wyoming's energy sector is undergoing a significant transition, with a growing focus on cleaner energy sources such as wind and solar power. However, the state's rural workforce faces significant barriers to accessing training and education in these emerging fields. With 23 frontier counties experiencing provider shortages that exceed national averages by 300%, Wyoming's energy sector workforce development is critical. Wyoming Energy Sector Training programs will be eligible for funding if they can demonstrate a clear understanding of the state's energy sector needs and a capacity to deliver vocational training programs that address these needs. Applications will be evaluated based on their ability to equip workers with in-demand skills and support the state's transition to cleaner energy sources. Wyoming's Frontier Counties present unique challenges for workforce development, including limited access to training and education resources. To address this, funding will prioritize organizations that can demonstrate a capacity to deliver training programs in these areas. Unlike neighboring Colorado, Wyoming requires demonstration of extreme rural delivery capacity due to frontier county designation. Key considerations for applicants include demonstrating an understanding of Wyoming's energy sector and its workforce needs. With the majority of Wyoming's energy production occurring in rural areas, successful applicants will need to address the unique challenges faced by these communities. Wyoming's Energy Sector Workforce is being transformed through investments in vocational training programs. These programs will provide critical skills training to support the state's transition to cleaner energy sources.
