Wyoming's frontier counties face significant barriers to accessing adaptive recreation programs, with 23 counties experiencing provider shortages that exceed national averages by 300%. Residents with disabilities in these areas often have limited access to specialized equipment, training, and competition opportunities. The Mountain Access Program is designed to address these challenges by providing funding and support to Wyoming residents with disabilities, with a focus on mountainous regions. Wyoming's unique geography, with its rugged terrain and remote communities, requires a tailored approach to delivering adaptive recreation services. The program will utilize mobile delivery services to reach remote areas, promoting tourism and local economic development while improving access to adaptive recreation opportunities. Eligible applicants include Wyoming residents with disabilities who reside in frontier counties, where access to adaptive recreation programs is limited.
