Equity-Focused Treatment Access for Wyoming's Marginalized Communities
In Wyoming, systemic barriers present considerable challenges to accessing treatment for substance abuse, particularly within marginalized communities. With 23 frontier counties, where healthcare access is significantly lower than national averages, Wyoming's residents often struggle to find equitable treatment options. Research indicates that individuals from marginalized backgrounds are disproportionately affected, with fewer than 30% receiving the necessary help for their substance use disorders.
The focus of this initiative is on individuals from marginalized communities across Wyoming, including Indigenous populations and low-income families, who experience unique challenges that hinder their ability to seek and receive treatment. Many of these individuals face economic constraints, cultural stigmas regarding addiction, and language barriers that impede their access to healthcare services.
